> MarinERA Pilot Call > Aims of the Call

MarinERA aims to address complexity, reduce fragmentation and possible duplication, while increasing transparency, productivity and efficiency within marine research funding. MarinERA aims to network its partner organizations to develop a durable collaboration in research funding, thereby creating added value in high quality marine research across national boundaries.

Proposals should address the following research topic.

Research Topic

Changes in marine ecosystems and functional biodiversity in relation to global change and other anthropogenic impacts*.

*Please note that the MariFish ERAnet (http://www.marifish.net/) will specifically cover marine fisheries research and the BiodivERsA ERAnet (http://www.eurobiodiversa.org/) will specially address biodiversity issues.

Geographical Areas

Proposals submitted to this call should focus on the following regions:

  • North Sea, Channel and adjacent areas
  • Mediterranean and exchanges with adjacent basins

In order to allow the participation of a greater number of MarinERA partners in each proposal, proposals which involve comparative studies involving the above regions are welcome.

Research proposals may address any of the geographical regions described above and / or their adjacent basins.  Proposals may include topics from organisms to ecosystems, including identification of indicators, driving forces and sub-processes and the related tools to measure, model and predict ecosystem change.

Applicants are advised to consult with their MarinERA partner national funding agency / ministry prior to planning and submitting their proposal.
